So I'm curious, for those that create eyes with closing eyelids...

1. Are the eyelids part of the head geometry?
2. Do you model the eyelid in the closed position and then morph it to open?
3. Is it possible to make the eyelid a seperate geometry from the head, more like an eyelash would be and still be "somewhat" believable?

Thanks!

1.Yes

2.No, but closing the eyelids is sometimes required when texturing and then morphed back open.

3.Yes, it has been used in game art, where the top eye lid has its own geometry and not attached to the head in any way.

What I would do is model the eyelid as part of the original mesh. And for closing it, you would want to do a facial rig.

The first part of your adventure would be to model the eye lid after studying facial anatomy...

That is a brief tutorial video on facial anatomy I made.
