I've never posted here before but I've visited this forum many times fo inspiration etc. Anyways I'm posting my first 3D model of a human female C&C most welcome, please keep in mind that I've never modeled much of anything before this.

Software used:
Lightwave 7.5
PolyCount:
who knows... probably too much

I'm aware of some issues with seams at the joins etc, it's a WIP and I'll be working on it when time permits.

Proportions look a bit off in the side view, but all in all an excellent first attempt. :wip:

I think it might be the camera settings, for some reason everything I render from similar perspective always turn out weird. I dun know too much about camera settings for Lightwave but I'll post up some wireframes when I get a chance.

I agree, a great attempt for a first model complex figure model.

The front/back shot shows me that you have a good handle on basic anatomical proportions. The torso is the right length, the rib cage is the right scale when compared to the hips, very womanly. There may be some minor issues with the shoulder muscles, clavicle, shoulder blades and arms but that stuff can be fixed with a little more studying of the female body, I think there must one or two sites on the web where you could find photo reference. ;)

Her legs also might need a bit of tweaking. I would suggest scouting around for the perfect side shot of a woman's legs to use for reference, be careful that you don't use an image that has noticeable perspective for a template as it will make your legs look wrong.

Tip - To make the legs initially what I like to do is take a 10 sided polygon and sparingly bevel (or extender it) up the length of the leg to define the basic volumes and proportions. Once your happy with the shape you can build a more complex leg on top of the simpler one you just made. Its kind of like creating a simple 3D rough before doing the final work. This way your not spending hours moving a ton of points and polys around only to find out that everything off and you have to spend even longer fixing things, I know from personal experience. (A quick note regarding the legs: when standing straight the legs don't go straight down they angle back from the hip to the ankle)

As for the camera, you could just pull it back and zoom in on the body, that will get rid of the perspective distortions and allows us to see her proportions more clearly. If that what your talking about?

Keep up the great work!!!!
