...mmm fishy!!!! :)
I like it, but I think a smaller img with less jpg compression would be better.

Those pics were done in max (rendering elements separately) and then imported into photoshop with some effects added.
Thanks.

That is really cool! zGreat render, texture, and model. Did you make up that species or is it real? If its your I like the design! Nothing cooler than making fantasy look real. Nice Job!

There are no reflections but in photoshop I used 4 times the render of the highlights in screen mode, for example.
I used one drawing of a real flying fish for the modeling (or at least part of it).

Way to go!
It really apears to be a painting, the mood, the style, and them again it isn't.
Please, post a wire, a big one.
Congratulations!

Wow, haven't seen one of these since I was a lil kid. They're a Barbadian (bajan) dish. Very famous fish in Barbados and very very tasty ;) it's also a pride of Barbados on our emblem, you've done justice here. COngrats

Hey joana, nice fish!:)
What kind of shader did you use for that? Is there some kind of translucency going on? It looks very good.
Btw, is joana a girls/womans name?
Good work!

Hi there!
First of all thanks for the comments.
I wanted to make a subtle image but that could transmit some kind of technical ambiguity (subtle and "dirty" at the same time with those rough textures). I prefer the kind of pictures that you don't know imediatly how they were done.
And now the technical stuff:
I used some textures done in max, a darktree texture that produces scales, Highlight Only material for the speculars (from Blur Studios ), and the multiblend material again from Blur Studios to mix them all.
Rendered the elements (shadows, specular, blend) and then, in photoshop retouched some flaws and applied some effects. Even used the ugly Plastic effect on it!
Thanks again, and yes, I am a girl!

Your wire shows alot atencion to detail, wich really helps the image to become alive. But surely the materials you created are your greatest accomplishment.
Very well done, Joana!:applause:

Oi Joana.

I think you need some water splash, to show a little bit "movement" of the fish...

First of all, the model itself is amazing. I think it would look even better if you made the fish appear wet because it just jumped.

I can vouch for that, they certainly are tasty especially when cooked by my grandmother (my favourite meal = fried flying fish & muffins)!
Good to hear from a Bajan on this site. Perhaps you could work on a 3D version of Cou-Cou? :D
Regards Graeme
