hi,
i have some problems with texturing in A:M
version 10.5 d

i want to make a face decal with the UV-mapping tool
the map looks like this:
http://www.iii-d.de/krimskrams/uv-mapping/map1.jpg

the face:

i dragged and dropped the decal on the face and choosed "decal".

application method: "cylindrical" and then "apply"

part 2

what i donīt understand is why was the map repeated right and left. if i choose "edit" my UV-map looks like this:
http://www.iii-d.de/krimskrams/uv-mapping/map5.jpg

the rendered image looks like this
http://www.iii-d.de/krimskrams/uv-mapping/map6.jpg

A:M seems to repeat the map right and left and jolting the image horizontaly. to work with the map i have to crop the screenshot with my mesh right and left and then stretch it horizontaly in a paintprogramm. the repetitions right and left doesnīt make sense for me and are really annoying.
am i making something wrong?

greetings
oliver

another question.
cylindrical-mapping always seems to wrap along the Y-axis. nice for faces and body. but if i want a cylindrical map around arms in t-position i need to wrap my decal around the X-axis.
or an arm in 45° position. how can i set a random axis to warp my decals around.

man texturing is so much harder then modelling ;-)

have you checked the properties box for repeat accidentally?
did you apply your decal in a relationship- maybe you have stored a command to repeat?
I never got the hang of relationships so I could be wrong.

no relationships.
yes the "image repeat X" is 3. thatīs the default setting.
putting it to 1 makes the map distorted horizontally.
it seems to be new feature in A:M to map an object completely. without the missing patch-line on the back of the object. the formerly missing patch-line now seems to get their information out of one of the horizontal repetitions.

What happens if you change the default to 1?

how can i change to default 1?
what i do is.
import an image.
then "new decal"-> name of my image i want to decal
in the properties itīs "repeat X" = 1
then i change it to "application method" -> cylindrical
in the properties it says still "repeat X" = 1
when i now apply it... "repeat X" = 3

it looks now
http://www.iii-d.de/krimskrams/uv-mapping/map-1-1.jpg
and the decal is repeated 3 times. but only if you edit it in the UV-editor. the map in the renderer isnīt repeated 3 times. it goes round the whole object.

when i manually change it to "repeat X" = 1 after this it looks like this
http://www.iii-d.de/krimskrams/uv-mapping/map-1-2.jpg

as i said this seems to be a new feature for cylindrical mapping of whole objects without the gap in the back... it perfectly circles an object with one map. it seems that cylindrical mapping now need the settin "repeat X" = 3

the only thing that bothers me is that i canīt easy take a snapshot in the edit window (for my splinelines). i must tweak it in a paintprogram (crop the repetitions and stretch it horizontally to the original size.
