I worked on this piece for quite sometime. I wanted to build a complex scene with a lot of random geo. I took inspiration from Movies like Aliens, Wonderful Days, Terminator and even Games like Killzone 2, Gears of War. At the moment this is just only Max renders however I've stuck to Game Art Limitations for textures and tri counts so I'm hoping to place some small sections of these scenes into a Game Engine.

I used only 3 programs to build this scene. 3DSMAX, Photoshop and Zbrush.

Please be harsh, I'm willing to learn from mistakes always!

Hello Verzun,

I think you have a nice start to a good piece. In terms of modeling, there are a few places where you could reduce the poly count even further. I've attached a screen shot of some the places that caught my eye right of the bat.

Looking at your textures, it seems like you are using the extra geometry to help place some of your texture details which isn't a very efficient use of geometry.

In terms of texturing and selling the 'realism' of your mechanical objects, when you have a change of direction one would expect to see some type of seem. Your rectangular column pieces look mechanical but have an 'organic' texture look about them. Maybe you were going for an H.R. Giger-esque look?

As stated, it looks like you spent some time on this project and looks great. Very inspirational to myself who has too many unfinished projects sitting around =)

Have you looked into any game engines yet? You may want to look at the Unreal UDK (http://www.udk.com/download.html) and also Unity3d (http://unity3d.com/unity/download/), both of which are free.

Keep up the good work, I look forward to seeing this project in real time.
