censored 08-21-2003, 08:55 AM I posted this a while ago, but now it's progressed a bit, so here goes:

It's an X-15, fastest and highest-flying plane ever built. 3ds max and Brazil r/s.

Looks really good!
Its not photorealistic yet, but its close. It looks unaffected by the area around it. Maybe put a little fog around it or something.
Great!

Looks too dark for the enviroment.
Maybe some point lights spread out all around it to lighten it up a bit.
The model looks great though...just keep tweaking the lighting.

somehow the specular reflection is not that accurate, maybe make it higher?

Tech note - the X-15 doesnt fly, it just points itself in whatever direction and goes. SR-71 is the higest, because it does a semi-ballistic loop, ie goes into space.
I cant make it out much in this, but the tail looks much thinner, which was my only crit of the last pic i saw of it. The texture of the glass lets it down, good otherwise.

The only thing that I dont like is the flame on the back. other than that it looks good

Hard to tell what you have coming out the back, it almost looks like flames and if it is it shouldn't be. Personally i'd either show more of what's back there or just take it out entirely becuase of what little you can see it looks kinda strange.
Couple pics here of what the exhaust really looked like

The x-15 WAS the fastest airplane, NOT the sr-71. The x-15 flew at mach 3.5 the sr-71 just over mach 3. The SR-71 is the fastest NON rocket air breathing jet in the world.

Thanks, all.
Got a new one that's a biiit different:

As for the flame, this (http://www.dfrc.nasa.gov/gallery/photo/X-15/Medium/EC88-0180-1.jpg) should look a bit familiar ;) I just comped it in for that to have something back there.
(EDIT: I am aware that the flame/smoke stuff is coming out of the little tubes. I'm adding that now.)

i think your second image is good but what would really put this picture over the top is if you added a reflection from a window, like the old test footage used to have reflections in them because they were filming out the side window, then i think this picture would look sweet

Lighting looks pretty good compared to this:

And the exhaust looks good compared to this:

I like the contrail off the cockpit area in this one.
Good job.
