Okay! After a heavy scouring of the help file I thought I'd check out the infinite cgtalk wisdom once again!:D

Right. Floating bones in physique...

I've got a bone rig (that's BONES, not biped), which is skinned in physique. Now, I want to add ear control (originally we weren't going to have ear control, but now we are... damn spec changes!).

We've added in the extra bones for necessary ear control and the intention was to add them as floating bones to the rig, but once in there they have NO EFFECT whatsoever. The envelopes are there, but the vertex weights are not. The bones just do not effect the mesh in any way.

I do not want to do the process of saving off the physique file and adding the extra bones, reinitialising etc. because that process just screws up the mesh.

Any clues? I'm sure I'm missing something obvious.

Manually weight the ear verts, or re-initialize.

maybe using "mesh select modifier" and use physique or skin for those verts.

i didnt proof this theory , but maybe work :blush:
