What can I say, amazing!
The materials, the animation, the breaking-of-boundaries-of-3D-animation...feels like it's shot like stop motion but still fluid as CG.
Is it by any chance possible to get a little glimpse to the rigs for your characters? After all, that's the thing that is the most fascinating to me. How did you get so diverse shapes out of your characters?
once again, congratulations and big thank you for sharing!

wow! Best animation for a channel ad series I've ever seen in my live! The Characters are amazing, absolutely wonderful design :applause:

i have some questions:
what kind of rigs did you use to have such a variety in character shapes and deformation?
How long did it take for you to complete the spots?
What is the advantage of Maxwell versus e.g. RenderMan (that is if you have experience with RenderMan)?

Can't wait to see more from you guys, and all the best with your short film project

Hi all,

and thank you so much for the feedback. This really means alot to us as we enjoyed making them so much. In short, Maxwell was a dream to work with. Due to its unbiased nature it has longer renderingtimes of course, but that time was gained back with the ease of setup. I think we used about 50 nodes ala 4H per frame on an online renderfarm called www.Rendernet.se (http://www.Rendernet.se), to render the shorties out. Really cost effective and they were also great when it came to support which ment that we could actually sleep at night, not dreaming about crashed renderjobs:-) Cartoon Network where also really good to work with as Olov Burman), our director more or less had free hands to do his crazy work:-)

We love to do some kind of casestudy here at CG-talk, and present detailed information regarding rigging, animation and rendering. Will check with the cg-team and get back shortly.

And yes, we did the one with the ugly yellow rabbit that gets a football in the head. We are really suprised that we didnt get a price for best story on that one?? :p

This is some seriously impressive work! I remember the first time I saw the rabbit animation too and the during first part I was also trying to figure out how on earth they managed to create such smooth claymation work. That is until I saw the wireframes at the end. But then, I was complete flabbergasted again with regards to the rig that would make that sort of animation possible.

Congartulations to all those involved! I'll definitely keep an eye out for the making of...

Hi Mats.
I´m happy to hear that you like our work!

All of the original partners of Meindbender met about five years ago when we where studying 3d animation in a Swedish University. After the education we kept together and even though none of us are from trollhättan, this is where we ended up. Much thanks to the cities interest of helping newly formed film companies.

We are a small but dedicated team. For us fun projects always comes before big budgets, So we are trying to not grow to fast in order to avoid having to take a projects just for the money.

Every member of our team is highly specialized in our own area of expertise. We very much believe in specializing at one or two things instead of knowing a little bit about everything.

We also put a lot of effort into the pre-production. All the poses and timing of the animation are set in a 2d animatic.

Kind Regards, Olov Burman

Just wanted to throw my hat in the ring.

All involved in the project should be very proud! It is very refreshing to see a small team of friends produce such excellent work.

As an animator I am giddy as a schoolgirl, this is just beautiful to watch, you can definitely tell care was taken to layout poses and really do things properly. I am guessing that in some cases things were basically just modeled frame to frame right? Just like you would do in stop motion? Brilliant execution.

As others have mentioned would love to see how the rigs were put together, some basics on how the rendering and pipeline worked, and I would love to see the process of animation.

Best TV spots I have scene in a very very long time!

Stable, easy to set up, hassle free, good results? Did you guys study for Agneta Andrén in "Dals Långed"? People asking how talents can come from Trollhättan should checkout "Dals Långed" lol.

Hi Timo.

Maxwell is indeed a good renderer. Hopefully we will have a "making of" online soon,
and make sure to notify everyone that have shown an interest in how the films where made.
There we will explain more about the Rendering details.
Yup, we all studied in Dals Långed for Agneta Andren. What was good about Långed was
that you get a lot of work done, Since there is nothing else to do there:)

Hi Andrew.
Thank you very much!
You are absolutely right in your assumption. A lot of work went in to the 2d animatics, and much of the animation where dome frame by frame.

I will notify you when we release the making of. There we will do a better break down of how the animations where made.

Best Regards, Olov Burman

Yeah, I can really see that you had time to focus. Im especially astonished by the animation. It really is top notch! I think Ill contact Agneta and see if she´ll let me in there for just a week or two to do some speed animation studies..

Actually, we all studied at SOFE in Karlshamn and we are all native Trollhättan:ers. Isn't that right rickard? ;)

Sorry about that Marcus.

Let me refrace:)

The first members of meindbender met in Dals Långed.

Along the journey some very talented peapole from other parts of the country has joined the crew, and made the creation of these films possible.

The education actually moved to trollhättan and Agneta is no longer in charge of it.
