Hi,

You can set the inputs to an arbitrary number, and they'll be accessible in the connectionEditor etc.

setAttr plusMinusAverage1.input1D[0] 0;
setAttr plusMinusAverage1.input1D[1] 0;

Hi,

You can select the code, copy it into your scriptEditor and execute it. Change 'plusMinusAverage1' to the name of your plusMinusAverage node.
It'll fill the inputs with values, and make them accessible in the connectionEditor to make direct connections.

It is a bug with Maya's connectionEditor and I'm using 8.5, so I can't say for sure with 2009.

You could also use a bit of MEL to make the connections for you.

connectAttr -force multiplyDivide1.outputX plusMinusAverage1.input1D[0];
connectAttr -force multiplyDivide1.outputY plusMinusAverage1.input1D[1];

With regards to your stretchy node network, I can't really give you any advice from looking at the image. Perhaps you can post a file?
