View Full Version : View all nodes?

Hey guys,

I'm wondering if there is a way to view list of all nodes in a scene? Like the XSI explorer. It shows a hierarchal list of nodes for just about everything. Does anyone know if something like this exists for Maya? Maybe already in Maya? By the way, yes I am aware of the Outliner and hypergraph... What I need is something like the outliner but that shows all the nodes in the scene (Sorry for being to redundant).

Thanks so much!

Certain types of nodes are simply not viewable in the outliner. (Most of these you probably would never want to view.)

Your best bet if you really must view ALL nodes in the scene is to write a plug-in that implements your own viewer.

in the outliner if you right click and click on show DAG objects and turn that on it will give you everything in the scene.

in the hypergraph, click on scene heirachy. if you need to see more go to options>display>.....turn those on
and turn on auxilary nodes.

It won't actually show you *everything in the scene.* Certain nodes are precluded from being viewed in the Outliner regardless of settings, or at least I'm pretty sure that's the case. (For example, I don't believe you can coax it into showing the renderGlobals or lightLinker nodes.)

(Edit: Oops, I was wrong on this. It may be possible to show everything in the Outliner.)
