CGTalk - problem in maya

guys i don't know if it's maya i purchased or it's the computer i purchased,

cause now i have three scenes files that i try to open and i keep crashing my computer...?

i try to import and it does the same way,

i can open it, it's only one small object and it crash as soon as i open it, any idea what i need to do before i format my computer ...?

PLEASE HELP ME OUT

Did you right-click on it to make sure it isnt read only?

Other than that I dont know what it could be...never had it happen.
