I want to buy a pc that's affordable but at the same good enough to use with Maya 2009 and other 3d packages. What do you all think of this computer?

And to answer the question, why would you spend $400 on a computer and thousands on software? That computers a complete turkey, 3 gigs ram is just about enough and the gfx card costs less than a cheeseburger

To be honest, that isn't a good choice at all. I think you should still be able to run Maya, but it will be incredibly slow. What is your budget on a computer?

1366 x 768 maximum resolution
The monitor is unusable for 3D

if you want to stick with this budget i advice you to change at least the processor with Athlon II X4 620 If you can afford a little bigger budget go with core i5 750 , asrock p55m or gigabyte ud2 , 2 sticks of the cheapest ddr3 memory ( sort of supertalent) , nvidia gt 250 , case with psu ( any PSU up 400w and at least 17A at 12V )

@IloveMaya

If you´re really still in the lerning phase this specs will do for a start, but later on when you have more experiances you will need to fly higher, or you get boring from this pc for sure.

Sure, it is an absulutelly no-go for a production environment, but it is still a usable resolution for 3D - to bridge some time or for playing on the road.

Try to work with any current 3D app with a vertical solution of 768 pixels. In many cases the interface will simply not fit on the screen.

You´re right, but what doesn´t fit most are just shortcuts, no big deal since you can use the menue instaed. Viewport isn´t a problem at all, same is timeline, hypergraph aso. So nothing you couldn´t handle in a lower resolution.

But you´re right, for a Desktop there is actually no real reason to use such a small resolution.

Have a nice day

Use Expert mode and become a real pro (fullscreen). Heck, when I wanted to learn typing I used a keyboard without any letters on it.
