I reallly need help!! I'm usually on conceptart.org so I'm not sure if this is where you post if you need help or just critique here on cgtalk

Using Maya 2009:
I'm doing a podracing scene and I have my pod racer rigged with softbodies and springs that are parented to a cube attached to a motion path.
I'm using lightning effects to simulate the connection between the two engines.
I point constrained the 'to' and 'from' nodes that were created with the lightning to one cube each, then parented those cubes to the engines. I don't know if this is the correct way to do that and I think it might be
what's giving me problems.

Anyways here's the main issue
If I batch render my scene with maya software everything is fine, but
When I try to batch render with mental ray I get this message

Warning: Line 1: "dynGlobals1" already exists as a dynamics globals node. All other dynGlobals nodes will be ignored.

Everything renders ok except for some reason the lighting moves on the motion path but the rest of the geometry
stays still. So instead of a pod racer I get a floating string of lightning that moves on the motion path.
I've tried turning on and off the particle disk cache, deleting it, redoing the lightning but I keep getting this problem.
I did render diagnostics and there were no warnings.

here's a short clip.

and if that link doesn't work

this is the only video I've uploaded so you won't have to sift through anything

I'm posting here for help more than critique by the way this is a wip.
