View Full Version : Is it possible to change the Maya viewport navigation keys to custom keys?
BlueMouse 08-20-2003, 08:12 AM Instead of using the default alt+click setup I'd like to change the viewport navigation keys to match the way they're done in Max. Any help here?
Thanks!

How are they done in Max?
Mayas hotkeys can be edited to any flavor.

In Max they are similar but just different enough to cause confusion when I go between the two applications. (I use Maya at work and Max at home)
I've edited most of the hotkeys in Maya to match my own preferences, but I've not found a way to edit the use of the mouse buttons.
Can you help me?

I'm pretty new to all this Maya stuff also.
I rarely use hotkeys and I'm really getting into the marking menus.
I will look at it though and see if I can do anything with the mouse but I'm not sure myself.
I really dont even know the default hot-keys yet.LOL!
Maybe someone else can enlighten us both.

You know what drives me crazy about Maya's viewport is that in Max if I'm in a front view I can easily switch to a perspective view(although it is the user view, the edges don't converge as in perspective) by just rotating the view. In Maya I have to explicitly choose perspective view with the marking menus. This might seem trivial but its maddening after awhile.

I know what you mean Bonko, I get the same feeling going back and forth between Wings and Maya.

i don't think its possible to change the mouse keys, they are embedded into maya. maybe there is a way through the scripts in the install directory but i haven't seen it.
this has been asked many a time, maybe try a search here to see if its been answered.
