Hi atm im on my second year of a hnd, i've had one lesson this year.. one! im not joking when i say that.
My normal days are just sitting working towards a unit goal and being left to do it. My issue really concerns the feeling that i dont know as much as i should at this point and with uni applications coming soon im quiet frankly shitting myself.
Atm i've signed up to digital tutors and im working my way thought the zbrush tutorials and some maya/ modo ones.
Really i'd like to know if there is anything i could do to boost my chances (im aiming for herts, bournemouth or abertay (in that order) ) ..
I have a feeling that i should post my work here but im having issues about putting it out there as my confidence in it is extremely low atm.
Any advice at all would be amazing

One? sounds like it's time to leave and find somewhere better... where are you studying?

I can't speak for Abertay or Bournemouth, but if you want some advice on your portfolio from the viewpoint of whether it's good enough for Herts and you don't want to post it here you can always send me a PM with a link to it and I'll tell you. Sounds good that you are teaching yourself a lot of software, but far more importantly how good is your drawing? How much life drawing are you doing and how well can you draw in perspective. After that considerations about colour, composition and design of characters and environments are important. After that comes actual 3D. Keep creating, and keep drawing!

Just post your stuff, it's good to get comfortable showing everyone what you make, no matter how good or bad it is.

My art skills are up to scratch, I studied art for 2 1/2 years before going into 3d, im not saying im fantastic but i know that i can draw. Im still at james watt college in greenock my work has improved a hell of a lot since i sent you work earlier in the year moid my only real problem is that atm my own work is well in low supply .. its mostly tutorial work atm . Since there was no life drawing classes in my area or at the college i've started to draw from reference images and a few books .. its not ideal but im hoping its still going to help.
I think over the next two weeks i'll try and do one or two of my own projects and post them here to show the standard im at.
