i haven't used maya hair before but with my current character when doing a batch render it takes anywhere from several hours to a day (!!!) before a batch render starts rendering..? the renders themselves are quite quick as they're low res, but its just before the batch render starts. yep pretty baffled by this but hopefully its something simple i'm missing.
