View Full Version : From 3dsMax to Maya.
RADiator 08-19-2003, 09:24 PM I'm relatively new to 3dsMax as well as modelling in general so may require a bit of help. I need to export a model from 3dsMAX 5.1 to Maya 5.0. Is there any program or a plugin I could use to perform such action (preferably free)?
Thank you.

Without using plugins you can export the model in max as a file type which is supported in Maya imports. There is one, although I can't remember the extension :( sowweeee.
Look in both applications to find the extension.

fbx doesn't keep the smoothing groups or the invisible edges (honestly I don't remember which one)
but this is valid about ver 3.7. I think 3.8 is the current release of that export plugins.
correct me pls if I'm wrong.
