neonghost 08-19-2003, 05:37 PM my first attempt at a head... Trying to keep a good topology is proving really, really difficult, but this one is not intended for animation. This is the progress so far after two days

Off to a nice start. The lips look good.

The shape and loops both look pretty good. It's a little hard to comment without a profile view, though.

progress update. She is a bit shiny at the moment, as I scrapped the initial texture I made for her face... it's difficult to achieve realistic results without high res references. As you can see I've begun the sloooow process of sheet modeling her hair, which is still looking like crap at this stage.

Porcelina :) Looks maybe a little doll like but for
a first attempt very nice. Trying myself on realistic
hair at the moment, so I can feel with you :)
keep on

bit of a jump here - I didn't like the direction she was going, so I restructured most of her face. Her proportions are now much more anatomically correct.
No bump or diffuse map yet (or eyebrows!), only one eyelid with eyelashes. Still not happy with my attempts at hair, considering buying shave 2, but I wasn't encouraged by the fairly negative tone of the thread about this plugin.

just a few texture changes, and some detail renders. Still no eyebrows, and I must fix that eye.

Overall she looks good, but her eyes are way too far apart. The basic rule is that the eyes should be one eye width apart. Although there's a lot of variation in real people, your girl is maybe outside of the normal range.
hmm its not really the eyes. I mean britney spears has those same widely spaced eyes.
its the nose dude it looks sharp like it could cut somthing.
everthing else lips especially are absolutly perfect.
well close to perfect.

thanks for the crits guys. Staring at her for so long had killed my objectivity. You were both right, the eyes were indeed much too far apart (the skull was actually too wide), and the nose needed smoothing along the cheek. So many hours of work :p

That looks much better. Don't shoot me, but the eyes could stand to be a little bigger still. Just a thought though, as you are now well within realm of human variation. :)
