View Full Version : Can't stack a glow material?
I'm trying to add a flash to a few objects in my animation. I want them to indicate as they are described in the voiceover. I thought I could make a separate glow material (a material that has only glow in it) that would be keyed to activate. However, it seems that a separate glow texture will not stack. If "mix textures" is turned off, then, obviously, all you get is the glow (or whatever is last on the list). If "mix textures" is turned on, then the glow does not appear at all. However, if I add glow to the individual texture, that works. I don't have a problem doing that, I just wondered if anyone knows why this happens...

try using the glow in the render effects instead, just use compositing tag objects IDs to select which objects you want the glow to effect
hmm you could always just make two animations one with glow and one without.
Then just composite them afterwards in post. However this might be too time consuming.
Thanks Squid, that looks like it will work well. Took a little tweaking to get a grip on it. Seems to give me a better effect anyway... Hadn't even seen it before! More to learn...
