have you encoutered that problem?
will the patch be available in maya 2010 service pack 1 (wich should come out soon) ?

Nah, I just have i7-965 (dual core).

That blog is run by Autodesk support team, so like they say all you have to do is get the patch through your subscription account or through autodesk I'd imagine.
