View Full Version : Morph with dif. amount of points -possible?
erikals 08-19-2003, 04:28 PM Hi,
Does anybody know if it's possible to make a morph with a different amount of points in Lightwave. If not Lightwave, is it possible in another program?
Best,
Erik

It is possible...
Not possible to morph between object with different point count, but you can use MD_Metaplugg to morph an object along another with a different polycount.

Well.. MD_metaplugg is basically like a lattice..
One mesh drives the other.
So you can deform one object with another. You can use it for example as having a really tweaked skinned low poly characcter driving the points on a high poly object..
Some ppl also use it to speed up playback of animated characters by replacing the skeleton setup with a MD file.
What you do is save out the deformation as a MDD file, then apply that MDD file on another object..

Thanks Tudor :)
Very interesting, I think maybe I know what you're saying. Haven't really used the MD_metaplug though so it will be a challenge. Thanks a lot, this can help me make some really cool SFX explosions and other deformations. ;) Mycke kul.
Cheers, gotta go.

He's the one that illustrated this 1st..
There are some threads here about how to do this.
