View Full Version : Moving camera in precise degrees.
swami3d 08-19-2003, 01:40 PM Hello all.
I was wondering if any of you could tell me an easy way to do this. I am playing around with making lenticular prints, and need to know how to move the camera in 1 degree increments from the start point, i.e. the main camera position.
I need nine sequential frames that are all separated by one degree of distance. So I guess I need to define the "sphere" around which the scene exists, but how do I get the camera to move only 1 degree over nine frames?
Any suggestions? Thanks...
Chris

at frame 1: create key and set heading to, say, 0.0 degrees.
at frame 9: create key and set heading to 9.0 degrees.
is that the answer to your question? or did you have something else in mind?

Well I think what I need to do is move the camera by one degree yet keep its' orientation pointed at the exact same place. So I know how to move a camera in increments like feet, meters, etc. but not degrees.
Suggestions?

Try this:
Parent the Camera to a Null object.
Rotate the Null from 0 to 9.

You're welcome.
Remember, the Null is your friend (I hope not your only one though ;) ).

Well besides the only other guy from WV (I am actually from San Francisco but stuck here for the moment) that went to SIGGRAPH, there is one guy named Bubba who I hang with. He chews tobacco, wears rebel flag shirts, and owns multiple shotguns.
:) Kidding.
What's weird is that I lived in Richmond, VA for a time while the sniper thing was going on, and we bought gas all the time at the gas station where they almost caught them. Now I live in Charleston, and another frickin loonie is sniping people.
Are they following me? Maybe better not to have friends at this point. :)

Hi Chris,
Lol, how about online friends?  :wavey:
May be you shouldn't move after they caught the loonies, statistically you'd probably have a better chance of not experiencing one in the future (...unless you're the guy of course).
Cheers,
Mike

Thanks again, and hope to be a regular poster here from now in instead of a lurker for the last 2 years. :)
