View Full Version : head: gargoyle-esque thing
Geoco 08-19-2003, 04:29 AM Hey, this is my first head attempt. I don't know how to make the lips/mouth at all. And where to show the definition from bone structure and muscle structure also confuses me. Where to put cheek bone definition and jawbone for examples. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

when you don't know where how to use muscle and bone structures, don't try until you studied the human anatomy. Else it'll never look right. It's a gargoyle! It can look whatever you want as long as you feel confident about it. :D
For now i'd forget about the details, and first model the head in rough lines. The horns could use some attention, and the overall shape of the head to. :wip:
Would you like to make it a 'living' gargoyle? or just a real one?
This looks fairly similar to what your doing. You may even be doing it.Hobbit Guy Tut (http://www.thehobbitguy.com/tutorials/polymodeling/index.html)
A: post a mesh please. That will help.
B: visit www.fineart.sk or do a google search for a skull.
C: visit the modeling forum and look at the topology thread (its a sticky).
(good start btw. though depending on your mesh you might need to start over, heavily modify it, or just tweak it a lot)

Thanks, I visited both sticky and the site Goon. I made some tweaks, an d worked on the lips a bit. They are fairly hard though. I've got three more pics, jsut to see if you can give me any specific things you see wrong with parts are shaped (assuming humanoid skull).

Can you please post a wireframe? Maybe you should do a drawing first of what you want it to look like, then use it as a reference.

Hey, tried giving the face (especially cheek and mouth area) a more fleshy, less stretched look.
