Hey all
I export a Nurbs model from rhino to LW by selecting LWO file.
the file get exported as polymesh

1) Why the edges are not connected where the nurbs lines was ?

2) Can I convert a nurbs surface to polymesh inside rhino?

thanks =)

As you noted, Rhino exports NURBS objects to LW as a mesh object. I'm not sure why regarding the edges not being connected.
Yes, you can convert a NURBS model into a polymesh inside Rhino. There is a command called From NURBS to Mesh in the Mesh menu at the top of the Rhino interface. You can select how complex you want the mesh to be with parameters in the command.

Also be aware that LW does not read the size of the object. It usually imports as an object much bigger than the size modeled in Rhino

Well, Rhino probably won't automatically join separate patches (surfaces) into a single mesh surface. That's probably all you are encountering. You may have to do some surface merging, but on the other hand, it might be easier to do that in Modeler.

2) That's well documented in their help... and is a good way to figure out what settings are best when you want a clean poly mesh as the end result. It just takes a bit of experimenting. Mostly, its the density you want to refine, and Rhino has a nice preview feature so you can see what effect settings changes have. I own v4 now, where they seem to have simplified the mesh conversion, but in older versions I recall they let you specify whether you preferred quads or triangles. It seems in v4 to default to quads where possible, which is probably what you want in a LW context. It depends on whether you intend to use the mesh as a subD cage or plan to use the mesh as is.

You'll need to scale it by .1 percent in modeller to get the same model size as in Rhino.
