View Full Version : Edge Slice problem (beginer's question)

Hi!
I'm an absolute beginner in Modo (401 OSX) and I try to learn it.
I have a small (500 poly) mesh and I try to slice and refine it with an edge slice function (split poly on, inside poly on, always raycast on).
Mostly i can successfully made a new edge, but sometimes not, when I need this new one.
If I have 2 new vertexes and join them with a new edge (ctrl+L), then I have a same issue.

I think, my mistake around snapping.
If i click on 'to' edge an other side of poly for a 'to' vertex (the 'to' edge is highlighted), this new 'to' vertex looks like can't be created on the edge! :cry:
I don't know why.

For me the edge creation usually fails when a vertex is not on the edge but inside a polygon, realy close to the edge but still not on it. Try creating edges with "Inside Polygons" unchecked.

I tried it out, but I got a same symptom. :sad:
How do I make a new vertex precisely on the edge w/o the edge slice function?

It was an user error!
I duplicated the mesh at the same position and if I click any vertex or edge, i selected two of them. That is why the edge slice tool didn't work correctly.
