Im having a lot of trouble baking high to low ambient occlusion and lighting map. My normal map projections work fine, but when i do the same process for lighting, where the high and low poly intersect in the scene is being rendered.
The following two image shows this. The very black image is an AO, white is where the high poly comes through the low. For the other I am wanting to bake direction light, but again the obvious artifacts are where the high and low intersect.

Im at a complete loss, i was under the impression projection never took into account where the two models intersect. I have tried hiding all polys within the high ( but still in the scene) but to no avail.

Are you rendering with MRay? It hs some problems with intersecting Meshes and Projection (don't know why...). Try Scanline with a Skylight + Light Tracer for AO instead...

yes its using Mental Ray, I didn't realise it had problems with intersecting meshes. Ill try and use default scanline then.

Thankyou for the help
