We are currently working on behalf of one of the worlds leading publishing and development houses recruiting an experienced CG Manager for them. This is an absolute superb opportunity not to be missed. Salary is paying up to £130k per annum +bens depending on experience.

This is a challenging role but the rewards are in direct proportion to the expectations / responsibilties:

The role of the Computer Graphics Manager is to direct the entire art implementation effort toward improved quality and efficiency. By developing the organisation, practices and skills of the art implementation team and by continually improving related pipelines, the TAM will reduce risk to development schedules and costs and increase the value added by these teams to the games this company develops.

Key Responsibilities
Create, maintain and implement the plan for hiring CG artists in order that there are no skill-gaps within any implementation team.
Work with the Lead CG Artists within the franchise to help identify their personal development needs so that they continue to grow their skills and careers and to meet the current and future needs of the business.
Working with CG Managers across other franchises, investigate and select from current and potential creation and implementation practices to determine consistent ‘best practice’ methods and processes for our art teams and direct the implementation of these approaches to maximize quality and efficiency.
Investigate and implement appropriate methods to assess and measure improvements in the efficiency and effectiveness of each artist and within each implementation team to surface opportunities and set clear objectives for improvement.
Review the requirements of each Production team and assign appropriately skilled art personnel to each implementation role, setting clear direction, responsibility and accountability for each team’s quality and delivery performance so that the expectations of each Lead, and of each artist within their team, is clear, realistic and agreed.
Assess changes to the art needs within each implementation team, and devise solutions to meet any shortfalls, thus supporting the Development Management teams in keeping art asset generation within all projects on track to quality, schedule and cost targets.
Verify the accuracy, completeness and relevance of all aspects of visual specifications, including concept art, as these relate to art implementation to maintain consistency and appropriate re-use of existing technology and assets.
Constantly assess the motivation and morale within our art implementation teams, and take any appropriate actions to maintain this at the highest level in order that we retain and grow the skills, experience and talent within these teams.
Assess the asset generation and implementation capability of potential external development partners, and provide relevant and accurate feedback to enable good selection decisions.
Continually investigate and track the performance, risks and opportunities in current external art teams and offer appropriate guidance and direction to enable these developers to deliver software which meets the needs of the franchise.
Continually assess the quality of CG Art produced within the implementation teams and take any actions necessary to assure quality that complies with the visual direction set by the Franchise Art Director and the appropriate Executive Producer.
Maintain and share personal knowledge of tools, methods and relevant specialist skills across related industries to drive technological improvement and expertise within the franchise implementation teams.
Working with Technical Directors and Art and Technology Leads, facilitate communication so that the work of each group is complimentary to that of the other.


Technical skills and experience:
More than 7 years practical experience in computer graphics as a CG Supervisor or senior Technical Artist in a post-production environment
Demonstrated knowledge of all aspects of lighting, character modeling and rigging
Capacity to adapt personal learning from previous practical experience and relate this to the companiy's worldwide technologies
Proven ability to set direction for technical training in CG art techniques and software packages

Critical Success Criteria
There are no critical skills gaps within the franchise art implementation team.
Maximum re-use and sharing of art assets and tools across projects.
Personal development plans exist for all CG art staff within the franchise and these plans meet the specific needs of each individual.
High degree of consistency in art implementation practices, with demonstrated efficiency improvements.
High degree of reliability in estimates for generating CG art assets, and high rates of success in meeting internal customers’ quality requirements in implementation.
Highly motivated art implementation teams across the franchise resulting in high retention of talented CG artists.
Asset generation and implementation risks in external partners are identified, challenged and appropriately mitigated early in the production cycle.
Rework for reasons of quality or technology is minimal.
