CGTalk - modeling 3d text

can someone help me with this modeling problem I have. I took some text in maya and extruded it to create 3d text. With each letter I am going through and selecting the edges and doing a fill hole. I have an obvious problem with the O because it'll in the entire area. How would I fill just the space between the center and outer edge borders? or I was thinking maybe fill the entire thing the cut out the middle?

Also is there an easier way to model 3d text?

I'm a little confused. Why not just use the built in "Create Text" tool? Save you that work.

Otherwise, you can loft those two curves (I assume) and extrude that.

:D I searched how to create 3d text instead of playing with the tool! create text-->bevel-->extrude! dumb question thanks for responding though phix

You seem to have found the solution but I use select both the inside and outside of the "O" and use bevel plus.
