Hey guys! got myself a little problem. see i got this Mercedes SLR, which i want to animate to drift, and to move, it needs spinning wheels... right? And it would be very much easier to have them spin in the correct direction, now heres the problem, the XYZ axis is about 45 degrees out from the zeroline (the direction which i want to go into), i use the "Float Expression" with the formula 360*sin(S*-2) but the tires all spin in a weird scifi way!
so i wonder if you can somehow align or adjust the Axis oh the object/objects!?!

ohh, and i use 3DS Max 2008!

What rotation controller? Euler or TCB?

It is Euler

Create a dummy, link the tyre to the dummy and try again.

Could you elaborate a little? this is actually my first attempt to animate something "bigger" i have just done some camera paths before! and i am following a tutorial, though i tried to implement it to my own Car model!

As Scrimski said: create a dummy helper.align it to the tyre.link the tyre to the dummy.Animate the dummy instead of the tyre. You could do this for all tyres and create a master dummy which you could link the other dummys to.

No. Don't animate the dummy, but the tyre linked to the dummy. Expressions need parent space sometimes in order to work correctly.
On a second thought, linking all dummys to a master dummy would do exactly that.

hmm ok! i tried to do the "dummy" way. but the problem remains =/, the axis on the dummy is the same on the tyre, which is a bit off! so the end result is still the same!!

i think what you need to to align the rotational axis to that of the tire itself. Or "zero" out the rotations. Select the tire, and go into the animation panel, select rotation. Click on the "assign controller box". When the popup window appears, select "rotation list". What this does is simply add a bland layer under your existing rotation x,y, and z bezier float controls. Select the blank layer (available) and click the assign controller box again. This time, select euler xyz. Now you will have two oiler controls. You need to activate the second one by going to the rotation list, and double clicking, or selecting "set active". I usually rename this second euler controller to ANIMATE, just so i don't get confused. A little trick, to keep from accidentally animating the original euler, is to select it, and assign it to be a script control. The original euler now shows up as a rotation script in the list. Essentially you just zero'ed out the rotations for the objects. Hope this helps keeping your tires from wobbling.
