Hey people.

I just want to animate drawing some characters and mix it with cg images.

Iīm looking for a program, free or not, to animate drawings with my Wacom tablet, instead of doing it with papers and by hand (and all the process...)

I tried Toon Boom but it was just so "flashy" (i mean, like Adobe Flash). You build your chars and then move them like... rigged divided in pieces!. I donīt want that. i just want to draw frame by frame and simply have a method to pass the frames up and down fast to draw. Just that. There must be a program to do this!!

Know any program? Toon Boom... doesnīt do that. And i donīt find a method to do it... (if you know how, tell me please!!).

I know this is not very CG... but itīs related to computers. :(

Have you actually tried Flash? Sounds like it's exactly what you're after...

Stick to using the brush tool in it rather than creating tweens and it should do what you're after :)

mm. Thanks about those programs. Iīll have a look at them. :)

About Flash. I use flash very often. But i look for something faster than that. Faster, and more often used by you guys.

Just that. i didnīt know i could do animations with flash like that... thatīs too bad!

Hmm, what do you mean by faster?

Sorry to keep on about Flash (I used it for a good 5 years back in the day, so I'll always give it a thumbs up when I can :p), but it really does sound like exactly what you're looking for.

Have a look around for some FBF (frame by frame) animation tutorials. Like I said if you stick to using the brush tool (put the smoothing right down to 0) and go with drawing keyframes, then adding inbetween frames etc, it really should be just what you need :)

Either way I'll stop going on about it now :p

haha.

I know how to animate. Thatīs the problem. I animate by hand, i draw, and then scan or take a picture, and all of that... that process..

i want to try another method, but the same, basically draw and then see what you do moving. The same, and faster process. Toon boom is actually... not really what i look for. These programs and some more i've found will do the trick, i think...

I would really recommend Digicel Flipbook. For me it's close to drawing on paper
although not perfect by any means. Timing drawings is great, very intuative.
It's very easy to flip and feel your drawings much like you do in traditional/drawn.

Depending on the style of output. I have done clean up in it. The Line quality is
good it is'nt as good as doing it traditionally though. It saves a lot of time and
scanning for me. It takes a little getting used to but I really love it now. It's very fast
and intuative.

If clean up needs to be more precise I use ToonBoom Animate which is
like flash but the interface and workflow is a little more animator freindly out
of the box. Flash needs some plugins installed for me to feel comfortable with it.

I have the studio version of flipbook which is fine for me and was only $129.
There are usually promotions on the site for pricing. Check out the demo.

Also there is Plastic Animation Paper. The interface was a little weird for me but it's
worth a try to see if it suits you.

Hope this helps

I would recommend "tvpaint animation pro (http://www.tvpaint.com)", very good for hand drawn animation

I do some CG stuff here at work on and off, but like to dabble in different styles and Toon Boom looks like a lot of fun and has a lot of options. I’ll have to upgrade my home machine first so I may give Pencil a try for kicks when I get a chance.

Thanks for starting this post.
