View Full Version : Mattepainting Toolkit for Maya

I recently finished development on a commercial plugin for Maya that originated from a need to better manage layered projections with complex occlusion areas. It's called the Mattepainting Toolkit and you can check it out here: http://www.glyphfx.com/mptk.html
Some features include: blend projections based on incident angle, dilate your occlusion mattes with soft edges to better blend between projections (and eliminate geometry halos), model interactively from your projection perspective with viewport updates to your projections (similar to 3dsMax), and viewport gamma shifting for linear color pipelines. A demo version for windows is available. Hope you find it useful.

sounds interesting, unfortunately the first three quicktime videos on the feature page don't work (only audio is playing, video is black). Do I have to install a special codec ?

I'm not a maya user, but those tools look sweet. I was very impressed by the occlusion blending feature.

The videos worked fine for me. Real neat stuff. What renderers does it support?

Very cool. Any plans for a Linux version? I'm sure you're just dying to work through the Linux graphic driver issues, but still. ;)

Thanks for all your responses.
Halfknight--which browser are you using? The videos not loading on the site may be a problem specific to your browser (or browser version).
Bonedaddy--I have compiled for linux and tested on Ubuntu. Only the demo is Windows at this time.

I'd love to take a look at it. FWIW, most all the major FX/animation houses are on some version of Redhat/Fedora/CentOS.
