If you're running Mac OS X and using Safari as your browser, could you please sweep by my homepage, CartesiusCreations.com (http://www.cartesiuscreations.com) , and let me know how the counter at the bottom of the index-page appears compared to this image (http://www.cartesiuscreations.com/trams/counter_w.jpg) .

I don't use Safari myself but when checking my site using that particular browser I noticed that the graphics making up my counter wasn't at all what the code is supposed to display. Instead of quite discrete numbers Safari displays large green LED-like numbers and I can't figure out why. The image refered to above shows how the counter looks in Safari, Camino and Explorer and the two latter browsers display it correctly on my machine. If you have the time I would really appreciate it, and if you have a solution as to what may have happened (and how to fix it) I would appreciate it even more!

in my safari it looks like the first one too ... check the Count.cgi if there is any browser switch ... if there is, delete this

i can also confirm that it's displaying incorrectly in safari, but, sorry i can't shed any light on why.

It's very strange... Not only is Safari displaying the wrong counter but it's also missing on the actual counting! Right now the counter in Camino says 1051 hits, but Safari only counts 122.

@peety: Where might I find Count.cgi? I've checked the cgi-bin directory on the server but couldn't find it.

Hey Anders

yeah - same here - Safari on OSX - it's bright green and big! :)

is it possible that this cgi counter is one script your provider hosts for you ? ... "/cgi-sys" seems to be a folder you have not access to ... so you can't edit it ... if you are allowed to run your own scripts upload your own ... there are hundreds of free text and graphical counters ... if you have problems contact me :wavey:

Thanks for all the replies and for the confirmation that those big bright green numberes weren't something specific for my version of Safari. And peety, you're right: the script is provided by my host, which explains why I can't edit it. I'll check out some other counters tomorrow and see what I can dig up. I'm no wiz with html and cgi so if I get into trouble I'll drop you a line :)

Thanks again, guys!

I get the green one

Sounds like a disease ;) Thanks, it seems like Safari is displaying wrong graphics all along AND messing up the actual counting. The counter in Camino states the number of visitors right now to be 1079. Safari says 138...
