Does anyone know of how the faces of the characters in the PBS children show: Super Why is animated?

They seem flat and 2d rollign over 3D surfaces.

Doesn't look like animated textures to me. Looks like they just animate the geometry like normal (using morphs).

I agree - these look like standard morphs to me as well.

You should ask there. SW was a Houdini show, and I've been told the riggers who worked on it originally might still hang out there and be able to give you a more definite answer.
