Hi all!
I have come to the conclusion (well, quite some time ago), that the area in CG that insterests me the most would probably be compositing.
3D and animation, SFX, and other CG work is great, but I am convinced that the real challenge must be to merge film (live footage, matte paintings and plates) and CG to the degree where noone can tell where the footage ends and the CG begins! Any thoughts on this?
Well, regarding a number of threads on this forum on the topic "which school should I attend". These discussions often tend to show that schools on 3D and CG pop up like mushrooms, with the attempt to harness students (money) and deliver mediocre tuition, just because there is the opportunity to do so. There has been a hype going for several years now around CG, and of course some people will exploit this.
Now to my question: How to know which schools really deliver the knowledge and inside tracks that a student want? Which schools really are connected to the industry, which schools really have the industry pros on their payroll, which schools really care about the student?
I came across some article or ad on the net regarding the Finishing School from the National Film and Television School. The document i downloaded is from 2001, but this really seems to be an education worth its name.
Have anyone out there any experience with this school? And, being an international student myself, is it possible for people outside GB to attend?
I think it would be the perfect next step in my career, but we all have dreams, right?
I'd really appreciate any thoughts on this!
Thanks,
Patrik
