just basic edits..crop, color...no brushes, no painting, no layers...
not exactly photoshop as we know it and not in the same league as "colors" or Autodesk sketchbook pro is it? [iPhone, Nintendo DS]

Yeah, this is a little disappointing. Seems more like what any other smart phone can already do. Where's the photoshop part? if anything it's more like image ready.

i dont know how it could be possible to use photoshop on a little screen with our (big)fingers,
and i dont see the use of it.
with a pen, it could be ok.

Did you watch the video?
I saw layers, brushes and painting, colour palette, etc. Was it just me? *sarcasm*

Thank you for the links cresshead !
i tested the free one on my iphone, and now i understand.
it's a cool apps, simple and easy to use.
but you will never me think that it's better, simple and more precise than my pencil and notebook paper.

I'ts not supposed to be. It doesn't pretend to be anything its not. The good thing is a company like Adobe is backing the Android platform. Also, this is just their first attempt.

if they give it the name 'photoshop' then it should have the basics of photoshop...
otherwise why not call it adobe andriod photo editor
you can't do the main basics of what 'photoshop' is known as...multi image layered comps..cloning...burning, dodge, drop shadows, text...brushes...healing..saving as layered psd.
this thing just seems to be a lo tech image tweeker that's in most every phone that can take a pik and they slammed on the photoshop name for some reason.

i found this, and i am testing it right now : http://www.jaadurdp.com/videos
now i am playing with 3dsmax in realtime on my iphone...really.
after restarting max in software mode (in customise/preference/viewport), i can open/create, launch a render from my phone. of course it works with photoshop too.:D
amazing.
(i am not afilliated with this company)

just to be clear, i'm not knocking the actual app...just adobe's naming of it...
it's not 'photoshop'...it is a simple image tweek tool/app for a phone but when you look around at what you can get for image editing on a phone thesedays adobe completly underdelivered what we all know thay are capable of.
it just smacks of adobe licencing someones phone app and gluing their ADOBE PHOTOSHOP
name over the top of another developers code.
at least autodesk went out and made a version of sketchbook pro for pc and made most/nr all of it work on the iphone.
adobe's effort here is just lame.

Hi
I Must Ask from a Serious professional workflow/pipeline or even hobbiest perspective..how useful is this??
it just seems like more Gimmicky options for Iphone/Smartpone makers to justifiy their products
and run down your phone battery even quicker.
Call me an old Geezer but for mobile computing
particularly Creative graphics , I dont see the usefulness in any Device Smaller than a laptop
and for just Video watching I wont go any Smaller than my Sony PSP 2000
3D Max on an Iphone?? LOL.

Your looking at it the wrong way. This is not professinal creative software.
There are many reasons you would want to edit a photo, and to be able to do it on the camera you took the picture with sounds pretty handy to me. Photos are touched up and resized for other reasons than professional work. Some photos are touched up and resized just for the phones wallpaper and such. It has always been a pain to transfer it to the computer just to resize it then transfer it back to the phone.
3ds max on a mobile platform comes in really handy. I have done many things with that like checking renders, fixing something and re-rendering, and using backburner just to name a few. Sometimes I am not in the office and someone will need a high res render of something and I can do it from my phone they are astounded each and every time.

Glad for you and I love CG/3D as much as anyone but Sometimes I just want to "uplug" for a little while and have some Balance in my life away from it all.
"the Sprint Customer have reached will be unavailable until
Vray Calculates its Light cache"...
NO thanks.
I hear that I turned my cell phone off after the contract expired to switch providers and I just left it off. I loved not having one for about 4 months until my cars radiator hose popped on the highway. After that I plugged back in.lol

receiving emails or checking a webpage for render stats is normal, if that's part of your job. Needing to do anything more than that with a phone means you probably screwed something up and probably shouldn't have left work in the first place. ;)
I agree, I don't want Maya on my phone.
One cool application for a mobile with regards to photography is using your phone as a remote for a camera. I think there's a Nikon app for that?

Well maybe the new "leaner" (http://forums.cgsociety.org/showthread.php?f=59&t=824759)Adobe will
put up some better offerings.

dunno... leaner doens't mean people still won't complain about free programs they'll never use anyways. ;)

... why would anyone want to run Photoshop on their phone? I can't believe people are complaining about this. What kind of functionality would you actually expect? IT'S ON YOUR PHONE.
I think some of you guys need to try and take a break from CG once in a while :/

Yes it is on a phone.
So is:
GPS
Camcorder
Camera
TV/Security cameras
Email/Internet
And about a million other things my "phone" does.
It's more of a laptop than a phone.
You take a picture edit it and send it all on the same device.
Does it actually make more sense to you to take a photo, transfer it to your computer to edit it, then back to your phone to send it by text?
Photoshop for mobile really shouldn't of been posted here differnt markets, elitism and such.
