I have a question about weighted tangent Vs unweighted tangents. I have noticed that my characters can look a little robotic because it looks like they are hitting their poses too hard. I know that if I slow down the ins and outs this could help. So I want to know if I am on the right track and if so do many animators work with free weighted tangents for finer control of their animations? I am working with Maya 8.

It really is a preference thing. I know many animators who do not work with weighted tangents, but I also know just as many who do. In my 9 years experience I have come to love weighted tangents. I do find that I have better control over the curves and their ins and outs, without having to drop another key down.

Thank you for the advise Lokihaus. I kinda figured that it had to do with preferences. I will have to try some animations with the free weighted tangents. I really think that I could get more control that way. Although I really don't know how much I will like them since I have never actually used them. Only time will tell.
