View Full Version : Exporting Rhino Curves for use in Solidworks

Does anyone know of a way to export rhino curves so that they import correctly in Solidworks? I need to generate a surface from a mesh, but the only way I could figure out how was to create a series of projected curves in Rhino. However, Rhino will not create surfaces from the curves so I'm importing into Solidworks (the final destination anyway).

I tried exporting as various IGES types and I can get some of the curves to import correctly, but only about 25% of them are showing up in Solidworks. The all show up in the object browser, but they are not visible and I can't use them to generate surfaces. Any ideas what I can do here?

When importing, open the options in the Open dialogbox. Make sure you import curves as sketches, curve entities in Solidworks are like second-class citizins, don't ask me why!

Also make sure if at all possible that your curves are degree 3.
