I have a mesh with about 11,000 polys and have mad a normal map out of a high rez mesh and that I sculpted in Zbrush. I'm working in Maya. My question is how do I go about painting all the other texture maps like diffuse, specular, ect. Because if I paint them using the low poly mesh wont the normal map make them appear distorted? It would seem to me that I need to paint them on the high poly mesh and transfer them. But i can't lay out UV's on the high poly mesh it is too dense to work with. So do I have to paint my other textures in Z brush? What if my tool in Zbrush doesnt have the same UV layout as my lo rez mesh?

Please if someone could tell me a good workflow for texturing with normal maps alongside other maps I would be grateful.

Simply paint diffuse using th enormal map as a guide. It shouldn't distort your textures in any way.
