View Full Version : C4D Importing .. Why so tiny?
fretshredder 08-17-2003, 03:50 AM Is it just me or whenever an object is imported (obj, 3ds, lwo, etc) is comes in super tiny? Dayum that is frustrating ... anyone know why this happens and if it is going to be fixed?

No, you are not alone. Its one of the well known
quirks of C4D. Go to the preferences menu to
Import/Export. There you can enter a scale factor
for the imported as well the exported files.

I just discovered the same thing recently, when trying to import files from FormZ using the VRML format. Even though I set the base unit as inches in FormZ and Cinema, C4D somehow decides that it's reading meters. Now I have my export options set to scale models up by a factor of 39.37 (1 meter = 39.37 inches). I wonder if this is the case with other formats too?

I import from Solidworks through Polytrans and I had the same thing happen. I wasn't sure if it was happening in Polytrans or Cinema, but I found that I had to scale by the same value that you did: 39.37.

Same thing happens in reverse . Obj from cinema in other apps is super huge. I really wonder about the units system in cinema.
