In max4, I was able to use Create Poly in either editable poly or editable mesh in the viewport and draw on the blank space. Max5 dosn't allow me to do this! Is there something I need to turn on/off??

In order to create a poly in max 5 you need vertices (This is from my experience, correct me if I'm wrong). So if you want to make a new poly in blank space, go to vertex sub-object mode and use the create button to lay down new verts. THEN go to poly sub mode and draw out your poly on the new verts you've created.

Kinda sucky way of doing it, and there may be an easier way...:)

If you hold shift and click it will let you create a poly in any viewport space.

Thanks a bunch!! The new implimentation is nice, so now I don't mess up while drawing polys onto a mesh where the verts are already placed, but they really hid the viewport drawing mode.
