I've been trying to wrap the orange objects to the sphere in my 3D Max 4, but everytime I tried, either the objects loose the bevel properties, or the wrap is not that smooth or something else.
The fact is that I am a rookie and this program and my puter doesn't work at my command.

At the image below I have the orange objects with a bevel profile modifier.
Space wraps didn't work for me.
It wold be difficult for me and my limited english to explain all the other attempts where I failed, but I been trying this for weeks and now I don't have more ideas.

You can download the max file from here esfera_jl.max (http://www.campeche.com.mx/oses/tmp/esfera_jl.max) if you want to give it a try.

Also I been trying to get this effect.

In the first image the bevel at corners have salient angles (bearded), but in the second image those areas are very smooth, bubbled.

How can I do that?

Is it something I have to do with a modifier or I got to do it editing vertex by vertex.

This is not the first forum I post this and nobody has even post a single leter.

When I first start the project I thought that it might be some how easy.

* The first image was generated in 3DSMax and the second one was generated in Photoshop *

Thanx for your help

The projection of the letters to the sphere is a hard one. You could try giving the splines of the letters more segments, so that it can deform better. Setting the capping type (in the bevel profile modifier) to 'grid' may also help (set 'edges only' to off in the object properties to see what it does).

To give the objects rounded edges, give the spline rouded edges. Select the corners of the letters and use the fillet function to round them off.

Why not use a a flat setup instead of the sphere? Looks good enough, the sphere would only smear your letters around.

Good luck!

You can still try to do that with the surface deform modifiers .For that you'll need to convert your sphere to a NURB object, and you can do that by selecting contiguous edges and turn them to NURB curve .That's it, hope I helped:wavey:

Just use two bendmodifiers, and aproximate the curvature of the sphere.

After trying your advises I found that the better way for me was what you said Bombyx.

I convert the sphere to nurbs and apply the "SurfDeform" that is in the Animation Modifiers, I adjusted the parameters to achive the effect I was looking for, and now I can rest for a little bit.

Thanx everyone for helping me.

I most say that I learned a lot trying to do this using your advises.

Thanx again.
