View Full Version : inserting keyframe into color envelope alters curve!!

I have two items which share the same Surface, except that one must be black up until frame 69. After frame 69, it must share all other attributes of the other item's surface.

problem is, when I go into E Envelop in the color channel to insert keyframes in order to implement this change, I see the curves change right AS I insert a keyframe!! no matter how steady my hand is, it isn't steady enough. maybe I'm clicking without moving, but the curve changes anyway and all I want is to insert a key, and then change *only* that newly-inserted key.

is there a non-mouse or other way of saying "put a keyframe HERE, and don't change anything else in so doing?"

then, I could go in and numerically make changes.

or...is this just how Lightwave is?

thank you. any help greatly appreciated...exploding deadline here...

have you tried setting your incoming curve to stepped on your new keyframe? that should prevent anything from "changing" until it hits your keyframe.

I hadn't thought of trying that, but I'll keep that idea in mind.

I received a suggestion of slapping a value layer into the surface that needed a next-frame color change, and that worked...keyframed it to go to 0% opacity on the frame where I needed the change.

thank you for responding!
