I posted an older picture of a bamboo background illustration before. I got some comments on the usage of perspective. This is a more recent picture. I want comments on how to work on perspective more in a background like this and how I can make this more interesting without changing the feel of it too much. Please help!

showing more distance in the back areas might help. maybe light hitting some bamboo in the black areas. showing that there's more behind. maybe some animals or insects will help the interest. im just kind of throwing things out there. it's looking good tho.

Thank you! It completely slipped my mind in including animal life. Do you think having a sort of sign or little shrine there would obstruct it too much?

personally, I'd like to see something mysterious on the ground or spmething scary in the background.

You could try working with transparent layers. Do larger bamboo that would be closer, and then smaller and smaller, darker and darker bamboo on other layers. You'd need to make sure to leave space between the bamboo so the lower layers peak through, but you might find that works better than just using a dark color between the bamboo and give it a more natural depth.
