Hey everyone,

I'm rendering my scene with mental ray in Maya. So far all the other objects looking good. I have a problem with how the texture looked like on my toilet tissue object. When I use software render, the texture looks fine. But in mental ray, it looked like something burned in the middle. As seen on the attachment.

Edit:
Please point out what I did wrong here. I used point and area light in mental ray.
The attributes for those lights are.

point light;
intensity 0.4
Raytrace shadow enabled
light radius 0.141
shadow rays 30
Ray depth limit 1
Emit photons enabled
Photon intensity 500
Exponent 1
Global Ilum photons 100000

Area light;
Intensity 0.6
Raytrace shadow enabled
shadow rays 25
Ray depth limit1

Hope that helps.

I feel like its the toilet paper holder casting a shadow onto the TP. If you enable raytracing with Maya software you would probably see the same result.

Its a shadow. If you don't like the effect you can troubleshoot which geomety is causing the shadow. Select the tiolet paper holder and open its attributes. Inside the raytracing tab uncheck cast shadows, rerender and see what the results are. You should notice a change in the scene. If you wanted a softer shadow you could increase the light radius on you point light and that line won't be so sharp.
