Here (http://wiki.blender.org/index.php/Doc:Manual/3D_interaction/Manipulation/Proportional_Edit) says I can do it with the mouse-wheel. But mine Zooms instead :(

PageUp and PageDown keys.

It should work, once you've started the transformation. Select at least one vertex in Edit mode with proportional editing enabled ... now after pressing [G], [S] or [R] you can adjust the area of influence with your mouse wheel.

Yecire, I tried "scaling" as you indicated, surprisingly, it did both:
1. It scaled up and down as I moved the wheel
And
2. Zoomed in and out too

I went to User Prefs but I can't find a way to tell Blender not to zoom with the wheel (at least temporarily).

Btw, the page Up and down is not doing a thing.

Any ideas?

Update:
I just discovered "Sculpting Mode"! It's saving the day now! LOL This is probably better...

With the proportional mode on, press G or R. Without moving the mouse, mousewheel up to reduce the radius of the circle. Depending on your zoom level, you may have to wheel a few times to get the circle into your field of view. Then move the mouse and verts within the circle will be influenced according to the dropoff mode.

Changing the radius is only available when the movement is in progress. A neat thing to do is to move the mouse a little, mouse wheel, then move again, and you will see how it works.

If the additional info Roger provided doesn't help, I must say I'm stumped.

Yes, the basics of Sculpt mode have a lot in common with the proportional editing tool. They both have their 'best-case' usages, but if that works for your problem for now, awesome.

Let us know if/when you again tackle or solve the PET problem.

Thanks a bunch guys, I'll try it again with Roger's additional info, even if I managed already with Sculpting mode, just for the sake of learning ;)

You MIGHT have an extremely large radius - in that case it looks as if nothing is happening. Zoom out by quite a bit, select a vertex and try moving it - check if the radius was too large for the view to show.

It happened to me some time ago, and at first I was stumped too; until I figured out the scale of things. The radius was extreme in relation to the object I was editing.

Finally!
You were all right about my radius being too large
But it's true! It's so cool seeing it working. I love it!
