View Full Version : Mental Ray + HDRI + Production Quality --> TOO DARK !!!

Hello friends !

If I use in mental ray custom quality, I can render the image very well - of course the image isnīt really perfect, because the less antialiasing.

So I thought, I will use the Production Quality. But if I select this option, and render a image, it is very, very dark. It is soo dark, that you canīt really see what you have rendered !


Hmm, is there any chance to change the value of the HDR-Image in maya ? Or are there any settings in mental ray I have to recognize ?

Hello.

to change the brightness of the HDRI in Mental Ray - you enter the hypershade and have the HDRI material selected - under its colour gain value - adjust its V value up to increase brightness. I think that should help. YOu can also always add a light in the scene.

You can change the amount of antialiasing even when using Custom quality.

Just open the 'Sampling Quality' section and change it to Min Samples = 0 and Max Samples = 2.

That will give you the same antialiasing as the Production quality.
