Heya,

I modeled an a10 thunderbolt about 2 weeks ago, but now i'm stuck.

Here are the renders:

(yes i do realise these are a huge amount of pictures, and they are also huge. )

Reference pictures:

http://www.a-10.org/photos/Photos59749/011024_01.jpg

Now, as you can see on the reference pics the gun is on the right (a bit) and the front wheel is on the left. And as you also can see, the front of the plane is a bit low poly (and so are the wings). As you might have guessed, i'm using the mirror technique ( cut model in half, mirror a reference), with editable poly.
I want to add details and such to the wings/engines/cockpit, BUT i still need to add the front wheel and gun.

What should i do? Since i can't add the wheel and gun when its mirrored, i will have to do that when i welded the 2 sides together. And thats hard when with so many polies :(
I'm also confused on how i am going to do the cockpit.

You forgot one of the most impressive thing on an A-10.

ITS FREAKING AWESOME GUN!

I wanna see that 30 mm depleted uranium spitting monster! It has 7 barrels and fires bullets really fast. LOL, I know nothing about the plane, but it kills me a lot in Desert Combat.

As for modeling, there will be a point where you have to suck it up and start adding details to create asymetrical geometry. We CG nerds like it when things don't always perfectly mirror each other.

Good looking model. Keep up the work. Also, let's see those ref pics so we can help you out a bit more.

peace,

Lu

Dude.. in what forum is this?

WIP/Critiques: 3D Art and Architectural Visualization

WIP = Work In Progress.

So that means i'm still working on it, and its not done. I also explained why i havent added the gun yet (and yes i know thats what the a10 makes the a10, since i love it also).
:annoyed:

And thanks for the comments. :)
