CGTalk - Damage illustration

Hi,

While quite a few of you have given me advice on a colorization question I had a while ago, this is my first post for critique.

This is a commissioned illustration titled “Damage”. The explosion and the hair on both figures have not yet been corrected in color. Most of the work was done in PS 5, with a bit of Painter 7; very carefully referenced, no paint-over, but one Eye Candy filter.

SMOKE! My personal favorite from eye candy!
Great picture! Is the supposed to be reminesent of the 9-11 attacks?

Not really. The setting is a future war in another galaxy. It did give me the chance to sneak in a couple of "memorials", if you will, for 9-11 and the Columbia and her crew.
