DESCRIPTION: I really liked the idea of making a self-portrait diorama based on one of my favourite paintings ever. I replaced the dog with a cat - since it represents me much better and changed a few tiny details in the fireplace itself. Trying to copy Tissot's mastery was a huge challenge and a great exercise. I hope you like it.

Description:
I found this to be a pretty interesting challenge. I'm relatively new to z-brush so I really enjoyed getting to do a full little scene. It was really good practice for many elements of Zbrush. I created all my base meshes in maya, but put the entire scene together in Zbrush. Also all textures were painted directly in ZBrush. I was sure to leave my orthos untextured because I really want to ensure that my model is judged based on the model and not the textures. This is one of the better models I have done and many many hours went in so I hope you enjoy.

DESCRIPTION : I have always loved this sculpture, and had wanted to do a classic sculpture for sometime but lacked reason/motivation to actually do it, so this was the perfect opportunity for me. I must admit I felt pretty bad about defacing such a beautiful work of art. This was modeled almost entirely in ZBrush, The exception being the hands and feet , they were modeled in 3DS Max. Rendered in Zbrush, with level adjustments in Photoshop.

DESCRIPTION: A replication of a portrait I had actaully never seen before, but I instantly fell in love with it while searching the net for a peice to work with.
I spent most of the time on the head. And if I could do the project over again, I would spend a little more time on the clothes, and alot less time on the textures. But then again, I learned alot about texturing. Just to mess a ltille with the original, I changed the buttons a little, just for fun.
Thanks for watching.

Time is the killer..

• WIP thread: WIP (http://forums.cgsociety.org/showthread.php?f=208&t=809339)
• Description:
The original idea was to make an image of a painting inside a room, where the characters exceeded their canvas boundries to interact with the real world. Here the 2 characters are stereotypical representations of myself. While one character tries to grab an axe, the demonic character holds him back to avoid a fast exit.
The sculpted models were converted into 500k meshes and imported into an 3d application where it stressed me out to get it done. The total scene is around 1,5 milion polygons. The beauty render has no textures. It does use a lot of blurry reflections.
Due to a lack of time, i was not able to give the characters a facial expression.
PS: yes the guy's neck is too long. The result of rushing to the finish.

i decided to make my own version of the greek myth. i tried to do a different pose from the original but it didn't end up as dynamic as the original... i know it looks like i'm baptizing the centaur instead of killing it and that's because i didn't finish :P the pose is suppossed to be me pulling his head back by the hair (but i have no hair yet) in the other hand i was gonna place a rock. i was also trying to make a more round composition in plan view as opposed to the long linear one in the original which is difficult to break with a horse.

So, here, goes, this isn't gonna be easy:

Best Model Collection: Magdalena Dadela (Intervain)
Best Diorama: Scott Broad (scottimation) I interpreted this as best all around pose, movement, action, scene. I love the tension and drama in this piece.

Well, there it is. Not really easy to decide although I do think maggie's was really kickass. That dress alone wins best model imho.

Was incredible difficult for me to choose between Tim and Intervain for the best model category, could be anyone of those, but we can pick just one.
Cheers.

Hey guys,
I just wanted to say that I have not been able to count the votes yet,
becasue of "crunch time" here at work and the fact that my computer at home just died.
(So no internet)
And to make things more fun, I just got my backup computer online yesterday, after some issues with my internet provider.
I will be posting the results shortly, so thanks for your patience.
