View Full Version : Total Textures Test
Geespot 08-15-2003, 11:31 AM I ordered the Total Textures CD's this week and when they arrived I was very happy with the content. So Happy I made this pointless image just showing off a couple of textures that come with it.
My main focus here was with the textures, the glass is just a simple object that I placed in there to 'fill' the scene up a bit (I think the shadow is too dark for it)
Here I was experimenting on Textures/Dirt Maps and Shadow Maps. I also used the built in Sharpen Filter Post Effect.

Geespot: In the future you may want to post the pic on a different server. I could not access the pic until I went and logged in over at Renderosity. I got an error before I did that.
The picture: I think the glass material is real good. The antialiasing needs to be bumped up and it looks to me that you are going a bit "bump channel" crazy. LIghten up on the intensity of the bump and I think it will balance out the image.

Oops didn't know you had to be logged in Renderosity to see images. Next time i'll just use my own ISP space.
Yea you right about "bump channel crazy", I set them all at 30% or higher, and the it really shows with the sharpen filter :hmm:
JIII: Heres an earlier version of the image without the sharpen filter

I was in the process in making a Glass material on that one, as you can see the early attempts were rather poor :D

Rather than sharpen the textures in PS--which can give you halos and enhance .jpg artifacts--try using Square interpolation rather than MIP in Cinema. Or if you want to use MIP, turn the scale setting to something between -50 and -100. Circle works works well for bumps, as does square.
